As of May 2018, the EU’s new privacy law, GDPR, enforces new rules for cold email and email tracking. Fortunately, Sortd helps you play by the new rules. Today, we’re announcing a new feature to keep you and your organization compliant.
We strongly recommend that you check that your Sortd settings are set as follows (this is the default setting):
Once the above-highlighted setting is ON, Sortd will not record email reads where it can detect that the recipient is located in the EU.
For EU citizens and residents, we additionally recommend that you switch the default Email tracking setting to Disabled all together OR be very careful to choose which emails and recipients you apply tracking to (which you must disable for EU citizens and recipients).
To Disable tracking on an email, uncheck the Track opens check box before you send it as shown below:
This will result in the image below where you will see the track indicator turns grey,
indicating that the tracking is disabled when sending
If you have disabled Email tracking entirely, you can still set email tracking on an email-by-email basis to specific recipients. Please be absolutely sure that the recipient is not in the EU and is not an EU citizen or resident. To do this check the Track check box before you send it as shown below.
This will result in the image below where you will see the track indicator is turns blue,
indicating that tracking is active when sending.
