Sortd provides API and MCP access so developers and AI agents can work with the same email workflows that your team manages inside Gmail.
Using Sortd’s developer capabilities, an integration or agent can work with structured information such as:
Email threads and drafts
Tasks, boards and lists
Assignments, statuses and deadlines
Contacts and companies
Custom fields
AI-powered email classification
Webhooks and workflow events

REST API
Use the Sortd REST API when you are developing a custom application, integration or automated workflow.
The developer documentation includes a five-minute quickstart, implementation guides, an interactive API reference and machine-readable specifications.

MCP
Sortd’s MCP server allows compatible AI tools and agents to work with your Sortd workspace using the permissions you grant.
This is useful when you want an AI agent to help triage email, update workflows, create drafts for review, assign work or use Sortd alongside other tools available to the agent.
See the developer documentation for current MCP availability and connection instructions:

Before you begin
You will need a Sortd API key with the appropriate permissions. API keys can be created from Sortd Settings → API inside Gmail.
For security:
Grant only the permissions your integration or agent needs.
Start with draft creation and human review where appropriate.
Store your API secret securely.
Never include an API secret in an email, screenshot or public file.
See How to create a Sortd API key for step-by-step instructions.
