Some users are automatically being redirected to Google Inbox even though they have gone to gmail.com or mail.google.com

(NOTE: As of July 2018, Gmail is no longer routing users to Inbox ... and therefore this article may be out of date)

Turn redirect setting off

  1. Open Inbox on a computer.
  2. In the top left, go to the main menu Main menu.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and choose Settings.
  4. Uncheck the box for Redirect Gmail to inbox.google.com.

Get back to Gmail

You can always get back to Gmail using the link in Inbox:

  1. Open Inbox on a computer.
  2. In the top left, go to the main menu Main menu.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and choose Gmail.

This will open Gmail in a new tab in your web browser. You'll still be taken to Inbox the next time you type gmail.com ormail.google.com into your web browser.

Of course, you can also turn the redirect setting off at any time.
