[Upgrade Completed: 25 Nov 2017 10:35am UTC]
This weekend Sortd will see a major upgrade of the main backend database.
Most upgrades/updates to Sortd can happen in the background without any disruption, but unfortunately this is not one of them.
The update to the database will require Sortd to be in an impaired/readonly mode for some time. Normally we would take Sortd offline completely to do this so as to ensure data integrity but unfortunately we are reliant on a 3rd party for this upgrade and testing of the upgrade has shown that it can take anywhere between 2 hours and 24 hours.
* For this reason we will keep Sortd up during the update, but any DATA SAVED during the update process WILL BE LOST forever. Consequently we request that you refrain from creating/editing tasks or dragging emails during this time period, and we will do our best to keep the time frame to a minimum.
We want to ensure that our loyal users can still access their email and existing tasks during the update but the non-deterministic time frame makes planning this update somewhat difficult.
We are performing the update over a weekend (Thanksgiving weekend in USA) to minimise work disruptions, but as Sortd is used by people all round the world it cannot be done in the middle of the night for everyone, so we have chosen to do it at 8am UTC time which falls in the middle of the night for most people in the America's. For those of us in other time zones, we apologise for the inconvenience caused.
This is the first of what may be several infrastructure upgrades, although the others are expected to be quick and/or require no downtime at all.
This upgrade will not change or improve any existing functionality, but will allow us to improve performance in the future.
Thank you for your patience and understanding
The Sortd Team
